A few weeks ago I received a message in my personal email inbox from an address I didn’t recognize. It seemed I had been added to a poetry group. As with most emails from strangers, I deleted it unopened. It wasn’t until after I received other emails that I realized these were not spam. They contained exciting news! Barnes and Noble at the University of Connecticut’s Hartford campus was starting a poetry reading series entitled “Rogue Recitations.” Store Manager Laurie Bompart is doing a wonderful thing for the local poetry scene. The series started last Tuesday in a bright and welcoming setting and features readings on most days through the end of April in celebration of National Poetry Month. Thereafter, there will be readings once a month. Tomorrow, April 22, I will be reading along with my husband, Aaron, and my long-time friend Pat Mottola.
